Drop Zone

Skydiving Community

We all know the ruby and the rails people are a nice bunch. I witnessed this again at RubyConf. The same goes for all the skydivers at Zephyrhills. Instructors, people at the office and everyone that visits the place. They are all helpful and willing to explain things even if you are a rookie like me. There are also no attitude problems. Like I did 5000 jumps and you only three. Or look how my rig is much better than yours.

Facilities

Huge drop zone. If you miss it you are a dumb-ass :-))

Then there is the Twin Otter aircraft that will bring you to 13.500 feet. And then you have to be nuts enough to jump out. Whoa !!

Great camping and RV Park. At the moment I am at a hotel but next year I will stay here. Camping is not the problem but the temperatures are. The last couple of days it has been in the 85F/29C area and with the humidity you don't want to be in a tent.

And they also have a swoop pond which is insanely difficult for a rookie. And of course there's a gear store, packing and rigging services, car rentals etc.

Vibe

It such a cool place. Even not jumping I can hangout here all-day. Its a mixture of adrenaline, released dopamine before a jump, music, beer and skydiving video's in the bar. Alcohol only after jumping of course. People are telling all kinds of stories and laughing there ass off. It's a great experience and I am gonna miss it very much when I am going back to cold Holland
