Sunday was day one and level 1. Monday level two. That involves a 90 degree turn left and right. I am taking it at one level per day. You have these dudes that are fifteen years younger then me that do three levels a day.
Skydiving is hard work for body and mind at my age ;-)
But seriously after one level I am on such a high that I want to enjoy that feeling for the day. And besides, I rather be slow and safe then quick and dead.
Level 3 was planned for tuesday but the weather prevented that. Insane blue sky but to much wind for students. Bummer. But hey, hanging around the drop zone is fun on its own. Saw some amazing 40 people formation jumps. When they track away in the sky it looks like this big cluster bomb of skydivers. Wow.
Same shit with the weather so Kip, a student as well, decided to go to Orlando to do indoor skydiving to work on are moves and arches. Great idea. Because I have never been a gymnast. I am as flexible as a surfboard. Thats why my arch sucks.
Women are much better in making that stable arch. We had this woman in the tunnel for the first time and she was a real natural. So smooth and easy going. My legs were all over the place in the beginning. Its weird because with all that wind around you there is no clue what they are doing.
Finally on thursday level 3 and it sucked big time. The required 5 seconds forward movement went ok, but getting back in the stable position didn't go very well. Upper body is fine but the legs suck. Need some serious tunnel time to work on my arch. But thats fun.
No not Italy. South of Sarasota. I got an aunt from my fathers side living over there. And they got this beautiful house near some water and palm trees. So nice. That was planned already for friday. Had a great day driving through Florida.
I decided with Marius, my instructor to redo level 3 as an exercise purely for that one minute arch. But now only with one instructor. It is still so vivid in my mind when we had this 15 seconds of freefalling opposite each other. Going solo was so cool and I will never forget that moment. Next stop will be to finish my AFF in the Netherlands if weather allows it.
It has been a rush. RubyConf and skydiving. I will be back.
