Railsconf Day Three
01-06-2008

Final Day

One more day and it's all history. It has been great. Looking forward to next year. Walking to the mod_rails session I asked David Heinemeier Hansson what the chance was of not being in Portland next year. And he replied with "100%". Now that is good because after to gigs in Portland it's time to change the scenery. He told me Las Vegas is a possibility. Cool. Nevada here I come.

mod_rails

Because of these guys being Dutch I just had to go to the session. And it was very good actually. They have there act together. Phusion Passenger for Apache rocks. I have no problems with deployment but I am gonna check it out. They showed some benchmarks that look very interesting.

Scaling Ruby from the Inside Out

Ezra rocks. He mostly talked about a tool that was developed inside Engine Yard at the moment. So very cool. Its called Vertebra. Kickass name by the way. Its used internally but he said its also a development platform that uses Ruby, Erlang, XMPP, jabber. Very technical by the way. Checkout his slides later on.

Advanced Active Record Techniques

Pretty OK

Final Keynote

Rails Core Panel

David had to leave after half an hour to catch his plain :-)

Google Maps

That's it. I am at my hotel room and it's over. Luckily I still have 3 days. So tomorrow I will try to drive back to San Francisco in one day. So then I will have two days to hang around. But it is 634 mile which is 1014 kilometre so that's a hell of a lot. Will see.
